Fairy Tales with Terrible Morals: These Little Piggies – http://wp.me/p1iq86-gr
It is no surprise that I claim to be a nerd. I am one through and through and I am a proud nerd as well! No one denies that. I like video games, reading books, and of course anything related to super heroes. While watching the cartoon movie ‘justice: league doom’ I thought to myself about the two greatest superheroes that the DC universe has, batman and superman. (Although the flash is still my favorite for his smart-ass personality and the fact that he is faster than superman makes him the coolest in my opinion! Think of all the food he would have to eat in order to maintain pace with his metabolism. He could literally eat Chinese food and pizza every hour or half hour for the rest of his life and not gain a pound! Who wouldn’t want to eat their favorite foods and not become obese or diabetic!!)
Back to the subject at hand, these two heroes easily outshine every other super hero out there including those in the marvel universe. Batman is essentially a trained assassin that has billions of dollars at his disposal. Oh he is also intellectually considered a genius and easily surpasses that of everyone in his universe save maybe Lex Luthor, superman’s arch nemesis. Superman is easily defined by his name. He is a super man! He has super strength, super speed, heat vision, and is invulnerable to everything save for kryptonite. Interesting right? I know I sure think it is!
Now my closest friends (the ones that have bonded with me for my intellectual side rather than my charm and good looks) know that I am a HUGE fanatic of Greek mythology. (Thank you Mrs. Rucker may you rest in peace) I have read the odyssey and the Iliad since 6th grade where my teacher the sweet Mrs. Rucker taught it to us. I think I have read both works a good 6 or 7 times each. The main characters in the odyssey and Iliad are Odysseus and Achilles. Odysseus is a Greek hero who goes to war only to piss off Poseidon and basically has to wander the seas for 20 years all while trying to make it home to his kingdom, son, and wife. He has many adventures and uses his wit and mind to escape many a horrible situation. For those of you who don’t know Odysseus was the person who engineered the idea of the Trojan horse to help the Greeks win the Trojan War against Troy! (Never trust a Greek bearing a gift is a phrase coined from Homer’s work) The Trojan War is basically all about Achilles. Achilles is the son of a water nymph, Thetis and a great warrior king Peleus. Fun fact: both Poseidon and Zeus courted Thetis. So Achilles father could have been Zeus or Poseidon but she had a prophecy surrounding her stating that she would bear a son greater than his father. Upon finding this out Zeus stopped courting her and told Poseidon his brother to do the same! He then ordered her to marry Peleus a great human warrior and king. They did and then they created Achilles. A demi-god that was invulnerable except for his Achilles heel. His mother Thetis dipped him in the river Styx by his heel making him invulnerable to everything except in that one spot. Interesting right?
In college I took several courses about Greek mythology. The basis of these classes was to find symbolism within the text and compare it to certain modern works. So essentially what I was doing was reading Greek mythology and watching movies in class and for “homework” (A special thank you to my family for paying for my school. Mom & pops gracias con toda mi alma) Now begins the fun part! I just gave a brief description of four characters: Achilles, Superman, Odysseus, and Batman! Why? Well it is because they are basically the same people but from different times/universes. Allow me to elaborate.
Odysseus is the king of Ithaca. He has a bow that no matter how strong you are he and only he is capable of stringing it. Not because of his strength but because of his mind. He has it set to a certain point where only he knows how to string it. However, you don’t see it until the end. I just threw it in as an example to show his ingenuity. He creates plans that will help him escape death or gain victory. (Prime example being the Trojan horse)
Batman is an intelligent super hero. He uses his brain to get out of hairy situations. Although he is a trained assassin and a great fighter he is human and vulnerable to bullets, knives, and anything else. However, he develops plans to maximize his limited Physical ability (comparatively to superman who has limitless power). Batman is the Odysseus of our time or at least of his universe.
Achilles is a demi-god. Dipped in the river Styx by his mother so he is only vulnerable in his Achilles heel. He is stronger than most and incapable of being killed except for that one spot on his body. Superman is an alien (and god) in a sense as he is invulnerable to everything except for one thing, kryptonite. Superman is the Achilles of his universe.
While there are many differences between the four I can see many similarities as well. I may have just taken my nerdiness to a whole other level! Combining Greek mythology and the DC universe? Pretty awesome! What do y’all think? Are these super heroes the same as these Greek heroes?
Happy New Year (I realize it’s 19 days in and I haven’t written anything in the new year until now)
I have been busy working 3 jobs, finally finishing up school, the holidays, and now searching for a new career. I actually feel lost in regards to the latter. I don’t know what I want to do with my life. My brother gave me some advice to just send my resume out everywhere and anywhere. Advice, which I think I will take to heart.
It’s been quite some time since I have had the pleasure of writing. A beautiful muse came by my store yesterday and inspired me to write. She did it with the simplicity of her conversation. I always enjoy them. So this is dedicated to her. Thank you

Enjoy! And leave some comments/feedback!
The speakers came on and a voice began to speak. It was the school Vice Principle, Vice Principle Smith. “All students are to come and report to the auditorium.” That’s all she said but didn’t explain why we needed to come. The coaches all looked at one another in a sort of confusion. Not many people were at school. It was a small Private catholic school and most of the kids on were long gone. Everyone was sitting down. Vice Principle Smith was at the front on the podium with a few more teachers. They all looked a bit odd but I couldn’t put my finger on what it was. I’d find out soon enough but first Principle Smith began addressing everyone. “There are some of you that need to come with me to my office. The rest of you must stay here.”
She listed off 10 names total. Mine was the 10th and final name to be called.
I came to find out later that those that stayed in the gym suffered a fate much worse than those that were in the hallway with me.
We were all walking to her office with the other teachers in stow when they just stopped walking. They turned around and that’s when I noticed that their eyes went black. Not their irises but their entire eyes were black. The teachers began choking some of the students. I could see what looked like the shadow of wings on the walls behind each one of them. The staff then pulled swords out of thin air. The same fire red swords I see in my dreams and with a simple thrust plunged them into the other students. The girls ran away screaming; the 2 or 3 boys tried resisting but were flung against the wall and killed by the force. One of the beings came towards me and something happened then. I felt a surge of power course through my back and when the creature came at me I blocked his sword attack with my arm and threw a punch to its face. It was a viscous blow that made it drop its sword. I picked it up and held it up. Something about the sword in my hand made me feel whole. I felt whole but I felt anger and rage at the same time. The four remaining beings finished off the other students. They paused and looked at me in wonderment for a few moments but didn’t last. They all flew at me at one time. I parried the first two sword strikes with the blade I had. I caught one of the creatures with a kick in the face and the other with a right cross. They both fell hard. I sliced at each of their necks removing their head from their body.
I would later come to find out that they were the first humans I had ever killed.
The remaining two came at me and we crossed swords for a bit. These two were better with their swords than the others. They fought in tandem and quickly began to overwhelm me. Pretty soon they’ll end your life. You’re too weak. Just give up. A Voice said to me while the other voice in my head responded by saying Find their weakness. Wait for the opportunity. Strike and Strike fast.
“That’s my only shot,” I thought. I charged the creature on the right but attacked the one on the left. Caught off guard, my sword found its way into the creature’s heart. Stunned at my speed and tactic its eyes went wide and then they went back to normal. Mrs. Rucker my theology teacher who I had just stabbed looked directly into my eyes and I think she smiled right before she died on the other end of my sword. When I turned around the other creature was nowhere to be seen. I stood there looking around trying to piece everything together.
Excellent! You killed your theology teacher! A voice cried out in my head there is hope for you yet. A true killer it continued to say but was interrupted by the gentler voice there was nothing you could have done. She was possessed and it was her life or yours. You spared her the pain of being possessed. That was a good deed. You saw her smile at the end.
I didn’t know what to feel. I was glad she was dead and not the other way around but I was sad I killed her. As I held the fire sword in my hand and as I looked at it I became disgusted and threw it on the ground and ran as fast as I could. I didn’t know where I was going but I knew I had to leave.
Good afternoon everyone. I have been MIA trying to get graduated and also working on finding my voice/writing style per a friend’s recommendation. I believe I am almost there and wanted to experiment with it. I plan on making this a two or three part short story series and will try to keep it under 1k words each. I hope you enjoy it! And as always feedback and comments are welcome. Tell me what you liked and didn’t like. What would you do if you found this out?
Tuesday, 11/11/14, 5:51 a.m. – Houston, TX
A smartphone with the star wars intro begins ringing.
“Hello?” answers Albert in a groggy tone.
“Hello is Albert there?” asks perky voice.
“Yes. This is he. Who’s this?” replies Albert.
“This is Elaine from Dr. Patel’s office. He needs you to come in this morning. He has received the results of your tests. He’s free all morning. When can we expect you?”
“Okay I’ll be there within the our”
Tuesday, 11/11/14, 6:32 a.m. – Houston, TX – Dr. Patel’s Office
“Good morning Doc. How was your weekend?” Albert asks.
“It went well Mr. Cross. I got to spend it with my family. We visited the zoo and had a picnic. How is your family doing?” The doctor asks in return.
“They’re all doing well. Sister just got married on New Year’s Eve, both my brothers’ kids are getting big, and my parents are on the verge of retirement. Thank you for asking. So you have some news for me.”
“Yes I do son. We received the lab results back and I’m sorry to inform you that the results are terminal cancer.”
‘Albert’s heart sank once the words were uttered. How?’ He thought
“How? I don’t do drugs, drink alcohol, I exercise daily, and I watch what I eat” he replied in utter defiance and astonishment.
“We’re not sure Albert but I am afraid it gets worse. We caught the problem but there’s nothing we can do to cure you. It’s spread into your organs and you have just a couple of days to live.”
As the doctor was uttering the last words the room began to spin for Albert and then darkness ensued.
Tuesday, 11/11/14, 7:13 a.m. – Houston, TX – Dr. Patel’s Office
Albert woke up on the bed of the Doctor’s office. For a second in his daze he thought he dreamt the whole scenario but waking up where he was he knew it wasn’t the case. The doctor handed Albert a glass of water to which he took but didn’t drink. Albert was in his mind. He was thinking why him? What was going to happen? He began to think of his family and of not watching his niece and nephews growing up. Then of everything he hadn’t done. He ne never kissed Claire. Hell he never even asked her out on a date, he was always too afraid. He never went skydiving or visited Europe. There was still so much for him to do but now he wouldn’t be able to.
“How much time do I have Dr. Patel?” He solemnly asked
“It’s hard to say. A few day, perhaps two weeks at most.” The Doctor replied.
“I am terribly sorry Albert. You should consider discussing your will with a lawyer.” The doctor suggested.
“Thank you Doctor. I believe I will.” Albert replied
Albert got up and extended his hand towards the Doctor but the Doctor leaned in and embraced Albert. This is what he really needed. Dr. Patel wasn’t one of those doctors that saw you for 10 minutes and charged you $40 per visit. No he was a caring Doctor that got to know you as a person and treated you like a human being. As Albert was in the Doctor’s embrace he began to cry. With every right I may add. He cried and the doctor consoled him. The two men sat there in the doctor’s office as Albert let out all his feelings.
Tuesday, 11/11/14, 9:04 a.m. – Houston, TX – Galleria Mall
Albert left the office and was driving on 610 heading towards his job in the Galleria area. His subconscious had taken over the wheel since he had a lot on his mind and before he knew it he was at his office. He had parked his car and stood in front of his job. He was a CPA for a big firm. He made great money, drove a nice sports car, and had a nice townhome. He was setting his “foundation” down for his future family. The truth of the matter was that Albert hated his job! He only did it because he knew it was stable. There was job security in being a CPA. He hated his job and he especially hated his boss. Was always micromanaging Albert. He always gave the shit jobs to him even though he had been there for years now, 6 to be precise and 7 if you included the internship. As Albert walked into the building he knew he had to make a quick detour before he went into the misery that was his job. Instead of going the short way he took the long way in hopes of catching a glimpse of Claire the girl of his dreams. She was a barista at the Starbucks in the mall attached to his office building. She had blonde hair, green eyes, and a killer smile. She was kind and always treated him nicely. However, he was too chicken to ask her out on a date. As he walked by he decided to go and order a coffee. To which he did. Claire was there of course and so he began talking to her. Whether it was the fact that he had nothing to lose but Albert finally asked Claire out on a date, to which she blushed and accepted. He asked what time she got off work and she told him in less than 2 hours. So he agreed that he would meet her back here in two hours.
Tuesday, 11/11/14, 9:25 a.m. – Houston, TX – Galleria Mall
Now Albert was off to his job to which he knew exactly what awaited for him, Stan his awful boss. Albert had an idea of what to do next.
Great article for those that have a dream or goal!
I was listening to an episode of the Nerdist Podcast with Kevin Smith today. Among the various tidbits and humor, Kevin talked about how his newest movie, Tusk, and how it basically began as a random idea from a conversation with friends. He knew that he had an interesting idea and that no one was going to fund this passion project because it was such a crazy idea and he did not have the best track record at the box office recently.
Of course, instead of this deterring Smith, he found other ways to fund this movie and did his damn best to get it made. Essentially, this has been the trajectory of Kevin Smith’s career. He made his own start before there were avenues like YouTube and really the Internet for distribution. The technology back then was also nowhere near…

My sincerest apologies friends!!! It has been TWO AND A HALF MONTHS since I last posted anything much less wrote anything here =(
Wow! That’s nuts! I have been working, moving, studying and starting on projects outside of this blog but that’s no reason to neglect it. That’s just life and I promise to do better. Therefore, I will write something new at least twice a month and I’ll repost anything I see that would be an interesting or funny read as well! In hopes of rectifying myself the Vega brothers journey is finally at it’s end. Please enjoy this and send me some feedback. From misspelling of words, misuse of words, flow of the story etc. All feedback is welcome! Have a wonderful day my fellow nerds!
If you’ve never read any of them here is the original story that started this all!
After I finished explaining my idea we began making our way north of the house. We were in the middle of reloading our weapons when we heard a window break and a man jumped out of it. Adam and I locked eyes and we drew up our weapons. I sighted in on the house and saw who was running towards us.
“It’s Dad!” I yelled out. A man was in the area and began chasing after him with a pair of dogs. “Kill the dogs first I’ll take out the guy after the dogs are dead” Boom Boom Boom three shots fired and all targets hit. I felt bad for killing the dogs but I didn’t have a choice. I can kill a man without remorse but a dog gives me mixed emotions? Odd I pondered. I shook the thought off and called out “Dad this way”.
I couldn’t believe what I was seeing! My dad just jumped out of the window and was running towards us. Finally catching a break. I’m glad I didn’t have to do what I had originally planned out. That would have been suicide. I don’t think I would have looked good in a coffin. I thought to myself. My dad finally ran up the hill and into the wooded area where we were. He hugged Adam then looked over my way and he had a shocked and confused expression on his face. Silence hung in the air for a moment but then he embraced me and I felt like everything would be okay.
The boy was clearly nervous. He kept walking to the door leading into the house making sure things were still okay. I slowly cut at the rope behind my back. “Cuanto anos tienes nino?” (How old are you boy?) I asked. He didn’t respond but just eyed me for a bit. “Quince” he finally responded. “Por que estas aqui? Debes de estar en tu casa con tus padres.” (Why are you here? You should be at home with your parents) “No tengo opciones. Mis padres estan muertos.” (I don’t have any options my parents are dead) I didn’t know what to say to the boy so I just nodded at him. I finished cutting the rope and was thinking of my next course of action. How can I escape? I don’t have many choices. Can’t waltz out the front because I doubt Escobar would just let me leave. And if I escape I’m sure things won’t end well for this kid. I don’t have much of a choice. Sure enough I threw the kid through the window and landed on top of him. I heard screaming from behind me and quickly heard two shots fired. I hesitated and looked at my body only to hear a muffled “Dan this way”. I didn’t wait around to find out who Dan was but ran towards the American voices I heard. As I ran up the hill shots continued to fire and I was happy they were. My heart jumped when I saw my two boys standing there. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. They were here. My boys. My sons. I was confused but I simply embraced them and tears of joy flowed through my eyes.
“We need to go and we need to move fast” my oldest, Adam said. “Take this gun and follow me. Jay follow dad and make sure we aren’t being chased”
I grabbed the gun and followed my son. I kept looking back at Jay and realizing he wasn’t the same boy he once was. He was different. I could see the change in his eyes. There was something in him but I couldn’t pin point what that was. We ran through the woods for a little while. We came to a road and crossed over it. Then cut north and ran for quite some time. Further down we came across an abandoned building. “We’ll rest here for a little while. I think it’ll take them some time before they can repair those flat tires we gave them” I looked over and jay brought over a piece of beef jerky and we all ate in silence for a bit. I finally broke the silence and asked, “How did you find me? What happened that night?” Jay got up and walked to the window and didn’t respond. Adam came to me and explained everything that happened. The events of the night, the interrogation, the friends that Adam brought, everything. I barely heard what he was telling me. The thought that Mikey was dead and that my wife was as well, it hurt deeply. This is my fault. My baby is dead and my love is gone. I winced and a stream of tears rolled down my cheeks and I sobbed with remorse.
It was a disturbing scene to see my father crying. All my life I had never seen him cry. He kept muttering that it was “his fault” underneath the sobs. I felt bad for him but I was happy we rescued him. I couldn’t imagine what it must feel like to lose a child and the love of your life. An hour went by and I decided it was time for us to move on. We all started heading north again towards the border when we saw some lights coming our way. At first we didn’t think much of it but soon enough we heard the whizzing sound of bullets flying by us. We began to run for the border but it was still a few miles away. I knew we wouldn’t make. Periodically I would turn around and shoot a round or two off. They were gaining on us quick. Then my father stopped running. Jay and I kept trying to pull him along but he was in a different state of mind. He was zoned out and couldn’t hear us pleading for him to move. Finally he looked at both of us and embraced us both. “I am proud of both of you. I love you. I am sorry for all of this. I will put an end to this. Adam promise me you will take care of your brother. Promise me!” He exclaimed. “I promise dad but just come with us we can make the border.” I replied. “No son, we both know we wouldn’t make it. It’s me they want not you boys.” He turned and looked at Jay. “Jay I love you son. I can see it in your eye that your angry but you have to learn to let it go. I’ve been down that path and the rage you feel only increases with every kill you make. I will redeem myself. I will avenge your mother and brother.” He glanced at both of us and then hugged each of us. He whispered something into Jay then he took off running in the opposite way. Jay and I just stood there. Watching our father run to his death.
As we were running from Escobar and his men it dawned on me. It was my fault that all of this had happened. Had I not double-crossed Don Escobar my son and my wife wouldn’t be dead today. I can’t imagine a life without her. I know we all won’t make the border so I have to go back and finish off what I started. I hugged my boys and said my goodbyes. I am a proud father. I couldn’t have asked for better children. They are my legacy and I will make sure it is not tainted and that they live on. I began running towards Don Escobar and his men. The truck was almost upon me. I raised my hands in the air and men jumped out of the truck guns drawn and pointed at me. Don Escobar got out smiling. “You almost got away you son of a bitch. I won’t kill you here. I’ll do it slowly tooth-by-tooth, finger-by-finger, and limb-by-limb. I’ll fix you back up and torture you again. This I promise you kulero (faggot).”
“I’m not the one who always wears that pretty white suit Escobar. Nor am I the one who employs all these…boys.” Hahaha I laughed out loud. Escobar’s face reddened and he approached cracking me in the mouth with his pistol. I reached in my pocked and unpinned my surprise. He didn’t notice. He was furious at the accusation. I must have struck a chord I thought to myself. “You hit like a bitch Escobar. You won’t get the chance to torture me.” I explained. “Oh why is that?” he asked but mid question I tossed the grenade at him. “Because months ago I promised I’d kill you” At this range it would kill us both but it was the only way to save my boys and end all of this. I smiled as he caught it in his hand and looked up at me incredulously. I told him that I would kill him but I guess it’s hard to believe someone when they’re hanging upside down handcuffed.
KABOOM! We heard an explosion behind us. We stopped running and turned around. KABOOM. Another explosion. I fell to my knees and slunk over. It slowly dawned on me what had happened. My dad sacrificed himself for Adam and me. I just watched the fire and my head began to spin and I lost my equilibrium and fell over blacking out in the process.
I awoke in the morning in a hospital bed. My brother was next to me asleep in his own bed. We both had IV drips in our arms. I started moving around and a doctor came in moving the curtains aside. “Hello young man. How are you feeling?” he asked. “Like shit” I replied. “Well that’ll pass soon enough son. Do you know where you are?” He questioned. “Actually not really. A hospital but where I don’t know?” I responded. “Good. That’s good. You are in Texas. You and your brother came in two nights ago dehydrated and exhausted. You were near the border of Mexico and Texas. Your brother is military and so they brought you here to this hospital at this base.” As I looked around I realized that there were armed men at the doors and other men in uniform walking around. “I see.” I said. “How is my brother?” I asked the doctor. “He’s fine. He is just resting. He told us he carried you quite a distance on his back after you blacked out. He’s a little tired I would assume.” As the doctor finished his sentence my brother began stirring. He woke up groggy but smiled at me “A little tired. I had to carry his fatass. I’m more than a little tired sir. How you feeling little brother?” He asked. “Okay. I guess. You?” I asked. “I’m alright. Little worn out but doing just fine. I want you to meet someone. I wanted her to meet the entire family a while ago but your all the family I have left, you and her. ”
As my brother finished his sentence a beautiful woman walked in and shook my hand. “Nice to meet you Jay. I’m Loren. Adam’s fiancée!” she smiled. I looked over at my brother and he just shrugged at me. “It’s nice to meet you too.”
Months went by and we had a funeral/wake for my dad. A lot of his colleagues from the D.E.A.’s office showed up and paid their respect. We sold the house and I moved in with Adam and his fiancée, Loren. They are planning on getting married the following year. Trying to space it out in hopes of putting all of this behind us. The months just kind of went by in a blur. Most days I would think about my family. I began seeing a therapist to talk about everything and that helped me sort my feelings. I realized that I had a deeper anger in me and that I couldn’t let it out or show it to anyone. At her office one day in the middle of a discussion I remembered what my father had whispered to me before saving us. He told me to go to the ranch and to a specific blind. I thought it was odd at the time and that he was perhaps delusional. I shook the thought off but as time went on I kept thinking about that last moment with my dad. The therapist told me to head down to the ranch so I did. I walked in and unpacked then went and grabbed a shotgun in case any rattlers caused some ruckus. I walked a few miles to where my dad had told me to go. I saw the spot he was talking about and quickened my pace. As I opened the blind I couldn’t believe what I saw. There was a stockpile of files, guns, drugs, ammunition, and money. So much money! This was going to change things I knew that. So I sat there and read through some of the documents. I realized I had a choice to make. Forget all of this or finish what my father started. I closed the shed and as I walked along looking over the fence at the spot where I first shot my deer years ago with Jay. I remembered tracking it and then shooting it. I remembered Adam missing and my dad’s quick reaction when Adam’s deer got up and charged him. As I processed the memory I made my decision then and there.
This is my friend’s Honeycutt’s blog. He’s a talented son of a gun. I always appreciate his honesty through his stories for children! While in my opinion they’re for children one can learn a lesson or two as well!
Good morning! The Vega brothers are on the verge of rescuing their father but barely missed him in the barn. They have suffered some injuries and things are getting a little bit messier for them. Enjoy the read!
Here’s the link to the first story that started their journey!
Cartel Cartales I: http://wp.me/p4hGKe-10
The last 3 shots fired broke the windows and killed a kid. He was probably 17 at most. Don Escobar was barking out orders to his men to take up defensive positions. “Vente aqui. Tu quedate alla. Si algien entra Por esta puerta MATALO.” (You come here, you stay there. If someone comes through this door KILL THEM!)
I grabbed a piece of glass and made my way over to the corner and leaned up against a wall. Don Escobar saw me at the last minute through his peripherals. He scowled and walked over to speak with me. That thick accent is almost comical. I thought to myself
“Who are these men Vega? How did they find you?”
“I don’t know who they are but I’m glad they’re fucking your men up Escobar”
Clack. He whipped his pistol across my face with the edge of his gun. I couldn’t help but smile when I got up. Escobar didn’t like that too much. He had me ordered away. This was probably his biggest mistake. What seems like another child escorted me away. I guess his forces are dwindling down now. In the adjacent room I could hear him on his phone calling for reinforcements, a lot of them. They moved me to the upstairs bedroom and I was in sight of the window. I could see out of it and I scanned around the surrounding woods but didn’t see anything. I don’t know who is out there but I sure hope they hurry the hell up!
Kaboom! The barn blew up and the two guys that shot Bo were destroyed. Good the bastards deserved it.
“Gentlemen we need to move quickly. It doesn’t look like my father was in the barn. Let’s get to the rendezvous and meet Jay. Brad, go ahead and take point. Angel, help Bo onto his side. How bad is it?” I asked Angel
“He has a wound on his right shoulder by his collarbone and his leg is fucked from a stab. When the hell did he get stabbed? Regardless he should be fine but he’s unconscious and losing blood. We need to get him out of here and we need to stitch him up. I have most of the supplies at the motel and can fix him up quick.” He replied.
“Okay good. Let’s meet Jay at the rendezvous and get Bo patched up. First though let’s do a quick ammo check. I have 1 mag , 1 frag, and 1 flash left. My pistol has 5 bullets in it.” I said out loud
“I have half a mag, no frag, no flash. One full clip on my pistol.” Brad said
“I have a full mag, one frag, and one flash. 2 clips for my pistol with one loaded and the other handy.” Angel told us
“Okay good let’s start heading out. Brad, switch rifles with Angel and go slow. Angel will be right behind you and I’ll be on his six guarding our backs.”
We began moving when we heard a noise coming from the bushes. Someone was walking up on us. We all drew our guns, except for Bo since he was unconscious. But before we could find the point of noise we heard a “don’t shoot” in an all too familiar voice. Sure enough we saw Jay walk out the bush with his hands raised.
“Why aren’t you at the rendezvous? You stu…” Before I finished he cut me off.
“Dad is in the house. I saw him being led by a guy in a suit. He was tied up and blindfolded. We have to go get him.” Jay expressed.
“Shit” my big brother said. He sat there for a few seconds and thought things over.
“You’re sure?” He asked.
“Yes. He’s in the house” I replied.
“Okay this is the new plan. Brad lead Angel & Bo to the car. The keys are in the gas tank. Take it to the motel and fix Bo up. As soon as he is awake up grab your shit and head back to the Texas. Jay and I have to go back into the house. Take your rifles but leave me your frags, pistols, and flash bangs. We’re going to get our father.” He announced to us. The guys put up a fight but he said he couldn’t endanger them anymore. He thanked them for everything they did. After much debate they took off and left us mainly all their ammo, pistols, and grenades (frags). They wished us luck and drove off. Adam began explaining his plan when we heard a truck pull up. It was a long green truck. A good amount of not so nice looking guys hopped out of the bed. My brother and I just looked at each other for a moment in utter disbelief. Things just got more complex for us. But his plan should still work. If anything them showing up has helped us out. There are about 5 hours left until dawn. His plan shouldn’t take long. We’ll have to head out in a bit if we are going to pull this off.
Shit. I don’t know if I believe in this plan 100%. The thought crept into my mind. But what other options do we have? As we began running it hit me.
“Wait Adam. I have an idea!” I said to him as I stopped running.
I am finally posting a long OVERDUE story. I was finishing up finals and took a vacation to Mexico where my phone opted to stay and live at the resort forever! The bastard! Haha. I know I have been M.I.A. lately but rest assured I am back! The Vega family is also back as well and are finishing up their escapades! Will the Vega brothers recuse their father or will Don Escobar kill papa Vega for double crossing him? I plan on making another post in 5 days (Sunday) so keep an eye out for that! As always I welcome feedback and suggestions, both positive and negative! It’s the only way to get better!! Enjoy the quick read y’all!
(P.S. I missed y’all and I missed this!!)

A week went by and Jay and I patiently waited for the cavalry. Bo, Brad, & Angel are coming to help. I’m lucky I have friends like this. I trust each of these guys with my life. Chance or God allowed me to meet each of these guys, either in boot, OCS, or in the shit (war zone) itself. I’d give my life for each of these guys and they’d do the same “Brothers from another mother” as they say. The truck pulled up and they all hopped out. I hugged each of them and thanked them for their help. I introduced Jay to them and they all shot me a worried stare. I told them my little brother was a better shot than any us including myself. With that remark it eased their minds a bit. However, Bo decided to test him. He walked straight up to him and looked down at my brother. Jay tensed but didn’t move. He only glared back. Bo smirked and extended his hand then they shook and he introduced himself.
The fellas caught up on some sleep and ate some food. I debriefed them on the plans and listened to their advice. Together we came up with some solid tactics.
“Okay so the five of us will each take three shots at the guards from various positions.” Pointing at Bo I said
“Bo you shoot first. Take one shot and make it count. I want Brad on the next shot followed by Angel. I’ll take the fourth shot. Jay I want you to hold off on your shots. I don’t want your location revealed. Does everyone understand this portion?”
Everyone nodded in agreement.
“Okay with the various shots being fired this should buy us enough time to rendezvous and enter the premise as one unit. Cut the power there and we’ll enter from the front and split into two, two men teams.”
Before I could finish Jay chimed in “Why don’t you split earlier. At your initial rendezvous have one team advance from the front and the other from the rear?”
The fellas all looked at each other and nodded in approval.
“That’s a great suggestion Jay. We’ll rendezvous here and split the barn from front to back. Jay will cover anyone trying to get out of the house. Bo I want you to set a timer for the claymore at 10 seconds. I’ll set mine off at 12 seconds. All right gentlemen suit up.” As we got prepared I got the jitters. I always do before I go out.
Thump. Thump. Two more punches landed across my stomach. Thump one across my mouth. I spat some blood out. “Tell us what we need to know Vega.” Don Escobar yelled out. Thump. Thump. Thump. “I am growing tired of this game” It went pitch black and we couldn’t see a thing. Two bombs went off almost simultaneously and all I could see was white flashes. Several men were shouting and you could hear gun shots going off. I frantically looked around but it was too dark to really see anything. Don Escobar unhooked me and pulled out at me. I couldn’t tell where we were going. I felt a light breeze on my face and realized we were outside.
As he pulled me to follow him he yelled out “Abran la puerta putos!” (Open the door bitches) The blindfold began falling off of my eyes and I could see the chaos. Men were running around firing at the woods nearby. Some would fire their weapons and immediately fall to the ground. As the door creaked open I heard loud bang and something whizzed by my ear and the man opening the door fell to the ground. Don Escobar grabbed me and hurled me inside and closed the door. More gunfire rang through the windows and I could see the panic on Don Escobar’s face. This wasn’t on his agenda for the day. Not so smug now are you?
Two explosions went off and my brother and his friends disappeared into the barn. Then men started to pour out of the house and attempting to run to the barn. As they did I would take aim. Fire. Reload. Take aim. Fire. Reload. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast! I saw two people come out of the barn through a small door of some kind. One man was dressed in a suit and the other was blindfolded. I couldn’t make out who it was at first but then I realized it was my dad. I couldn’t line up a shot because he was blocking the man in the suit. My attention was now refocused around my father. Aim. Fire. Reload. One, two, three, four people were now dead around them. They continued making their way to the house. The door swung open and a man stood in the center. Bang. A round left my gun that came a bit close to my dad. The man hit the floor but my dad was now on the inside of the house. The remaining men were scattering around the house. I let off a few more shots through the windows until I saw my brother and his crew making their way out of the barn through their original entry point. Someone was hurt because two guys were carrying one man while my brother laid suppressive fire behind them. They ran and hit the floor near a ditch. Two men popped out looking for them but didn’t get the chance to look around much because moments after they came out the barn exploded behind them, incinerating them in the process. I picked my gun up and made my way to my brother. I needed to tell my brother where my father was. We can’t leave just yet.
